"Even as a small child", Vickey explains, "I can
recall dreams of a microphone in my hand, of
holding an entire audience with only a song."
It wasn’t until her grandmother said, "Just decide
what you really want in life, and then go after it.
That’s all you have to do."
She decided to do just that.
She started early on in high school pageants in
Pauls Valley, Oklahoma and went to one night
appearances with local bands to headlining at
Emilio’s Piano Lounge in Enid, Oklahoma.
Vickey’s professional credentials are as solid as
her singing and as convincing. Two of her efforts,
recorded and distributed in Oklahoma have received
considerable airtime and favorable commentary on
major radio stations in Oklahoma.
Places Vickey has performed include The Diamond Ballroom, Katy & Bill’s, The Normandy Club, The Copper Club, The Oklahoma Opry, Graham Central Station in Oklahoma City, The Elks, Moose and VIP Clubs in Alva, Enid and Ponca City, Oklahoma, The Freedom Rodeo, Tumbleweeds in Stillwater, Oklahoma, City Boots in Enid, Oklahoma along with The 300 Club, Oakwood Country Club, Ramada Inn Lounge, Bamboo Club, The Rig, Lady Luck, Brass Rail and many more.
Vickey has performed with such names as Little Jimmy Dickens and performed as a front for Jana Jay, Gene Watson & Mel McDaniel. She has had many bands of her own including Silver Strings, The Peacemakers, The Vickey Rose Show, Dealer’s Choice, Ambush Canyon, The Sandy & Vickey Duet and a single show of her own.
Vickey is also trying her hand at lead and bass guitar, keyboard, piano and alto saxophone. She is currently performing with The Enid Jazz and Concert Bands at Northwestern Oklahoma College. She performs alongside Doc Bryant at Christmas Parties, The Jazz Festival of Enid and Enid Lights Up The Plains.
Vickey has written and recorded her own songs, "What Your Memory Can Do" and "Living And Breathing You" which have both been recorded as single albums.
In 2003 Vickey recorded a cd of her own along with a duet cd with Sandy Luginbill.
Vickey is now living in the Grand Lake Oklahoma area and is available for bookings in northeast Oklahoma.
